The first book in a sensational New Adult trilogy from Noelle August

Welcome to Boomerang.com, the dating site for the millennial gen with its no-fuss, no-commitments matchups, and where work is steamier than any random hook-up
Mia Galliano is an aspiring filmmaker. Ethan Vance has just played his last game as a collegiate soccer star. They’re sharp, hungry for success, and they share a secret.

Last night, Ethan and Mia met at a bar, and, well . . . one thing led to another, which led to them waking up the next morning—together. Things turned awkward in a hurry when they found themselves sharing a post hookup taxi . . . to the same place: Boomerang headquarters.

What began as a powerful connection between them is treated to a cold shower courtesy of two major complications. First, Boomerang has a strict policy against co-worker dating. And second, they’re now competitors for only one job at the end of summer.
As their internships come to an end, will they manage to keep their eyes on the future and their hands off each other, or will the pull of attraction put them right back where they started?

Noelle August is a hot new name on the New Adult landscape. I knew I’d love Boomerang’s humor and chemistry even before I opened the book because Veronica Rossi is a queen and I adore her books. I had, must admit, never heard of Lorin Oberweger before, but turns out that she has starred Kirkus reviews and everything as a ghostwriter so should speak volume about her talent as well. So yes, Boomerang was a must after I read the synopsis and I may as well tell you all about my thoughts on this fun, chemistry-filled and humorous read.

"On the single most important day of my life, I wake with the thought: Oh crap, where are my panties? "

Ethan and Mia as narrators are very good. They have slightly different tones, but we still get the effortless and funny storytelling through both of their eyes. Also, while a good chunk of the book focuses on their romance, Boomerang explores their problems and dreams outside the romance plot as well. Mia’s aspirations and her bond with her grandmother were humbling and inspiring. Ethan’s relationship and problems with her ex and his position as the coach definitely added to the story too. Plus, we have one of my favorite romances: the forbidden kind. Seeing as Adam, Mia and Ethan’s awesome boss, has one rule—no office romances—their attraction basically triples. And that only fueled my desire to see them together.

I loved the banter and the chemistry between Mia and Ethan. I also enjoyed the secondary characters that may come off as a little cliché to some people, but it didn’t bother me the slightest. I especially adored Ethan’s roommates who are a couple and super cute together! Alsooo, LOL at Cookie and Candy! There were a bunch of elements I adored about Boomerang (and the marketing theme was definitely one of them as well), but I felt like towards the end of the novel? It lost a little spark for me. I can’t exactly point fingers to anything specific, but I grew a little tired of the story. Plus there was a tad too much lusting over each other and I wish we had gotten a tiny bit more development for the background stories or something along the lines.

As a whole, Boomerang was really enjoyable and made me laugh a ton, so I can’t wait to read the following stories in this companion series. It’s funny because I was hoping and crossing my fingers that the next book will be about Adam, but boy did I ever not wish for his story to have this leading lady. I’m not sure how I feel about the idea, but I’m willing to give it a try. If it’s anything like Boomerang, it’s bound to entertain and shower us with laughter, intense chemistry and a ton of feels!

  1. Yay! I'm so glad you liked this, Siiri. The chemistry and banter in the book were everything! The romance was also sweet. I understand why you may have grown tired of the continuous lusting over each other and the lack of development in the background stories. Still, you enjoyed it overall which is the most important part! :D
I was so wary when I found out SHE would be the leading lady. If it were anyone other than a favorite author of mine, I would not have read the book, but I'm curious to see what these authors have up their sleeves! :)
    Lovely review!

  2. I wasn't quite able to pinpoint why this one didn't wow me, but I think you nailed it. It just didn't feel fully developed in the end. I think I was looking for a bit more depth. Anyway, I did find it enjoyable and glad you did too!

  3. I loved this book Sirri, so I'm really glad you enjoyed it as well for the most part! And I didn't know who the next book was about, so now I'm dying to find out who's paired with Adam. WHO IS IT SIIRI?!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *flails*

  4. I was annoyed by how much we read about their every day work life. I mean, I know it was centered around it but stuff like that bores me. I heard the audio for this one and liked it.

  6. SO happy this was a good read for you! I love that it wasn't over the top angst or drama, though it was still fun and indulgent. I'm zoo excited for Adam's story, but I actually think Alison could be a really great match for him. She's so straight laced, and I bet they could fire each other up. I'm just glad Ethan realized he's a better fit with Mia. It was hilarious when Mia tried to pick a girl Ethan would NOT like, and went with Alison. HA. I can't wait for more NA from these authors. Great review!

  7. OMG I've seen this book everywhere but I didn't know Noelle August is a pen name like reallly?? I definitely agree, Siiri! Forbidden romance is the best kind of romance. XD I think I need this book because I need to laugh out loud but I'm worried about the lusting aspect. Haha. I don't really appreciate that. Nevertheless, I'd definitely check this out soon. Lovely review, Siiri!

  8. I just get weirded out every time I see this book because in Australia, a boomerang is like...a native weapon. To, um. Kill? lol I just don't know why they'd name the dating service after A WEAPON. I didn't realise it was Veronica Rossi behind it though!! That's kind of cool and definitely different from her her trilogy, right?! I'm curious about Boomerang, because I love humorous dialogue. But NA and me have never had a real good run. So we'll see. ;-)

  9. The only thing that still attracts me when it comes to NA books is humor and this one seems to have plenty of it. I'm really happy to hear that :) Also I had no idea that Veronica Rossi is behind this name. It's not like I have read Under the Never Sky (don't kill me, as I'll read it. but seriously so many amazing arcs are showing up at NG this time of the year). Anyhow both Ethan and Mia sound really cute and I love that there is chemistry between them. I'm really happy you enjoyed this one and maybe, big maybe, I'll read it one day. Great review, hon ;)

  10. Gah...I don't know what to think of this Siiri! I have a relatively bad experience with NA just in general, so I tend to avoid it most of the time; but this sounds really intriguing. And the fact that Veronica Rossi is writing it makes me really interested! While I'm not the biggest fan of Under the Never Sky, I did enjoy it quite a bit and can't deny I'm interested to see how she transitions to NA. And yeah for humor too! ;)

Thanks for sharing, and BRILLIANT review! <3

  11. Veronica Rossi? As in the woman who wrote Under The Never Sky, the book I am currently fangirling over?!
*cough* That aside, this books seems like a fun one to read. I don't often read those 'funny-make-me-laugh' romances but I do enjoy them when I do. The whole 'slept with the enemy' part is intriguing and I just love banter! Wonderful review :)

PS. THAT FIZZLE FORCE BADGE! I anxiously await the post for that cause I WANT IT BAD *covers eyes due to over-awesomeness*

  13. SIIRI!!!! Where have I been? I been so long since I visited your blog, I'm sorry! :( Love the re-design and new fonts my dear! :D Boomerang is high on my list to read. I've seen so many brilliant reviews of this and my interest is certainly peaked especially when NA is similar in ways at the mo! Great review, Siiri! :D

  14. Your new blog design is just so pretty I LOVE IT SO MUCH. <3
Boomerang is just my type of NA - maybe because it's more a romantic comedy than anything else? I love that it was so low on angst and drama. Even though you don't love it as much as me, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Of course I'll be reading the next book, but I'm none too happy that it's Allison's story. I don't like her and don't want to haha.

  15. This sounds cute, but I'm not super excited to pick it up. More now seeing you weren't completely wowed by the story. I think the fact that they would have to fight their attraction because of a work rule would grow old. Wonderful review, Siiri! :)
