February Wrap Up and Giveaway

Wow! February totally flew by and I cannot believe it's March already. I started my final BA semester in February and it'll be a crazy ride to the finish line this spring what with my thesis, classes, labs, work and blogging. Since February was a little less hectic I got to post every day, but during March and the rest of the spring I'll probably post like 2-3 times a week and won't be able to comment every day, but I'm going to try my hardest. Anyhow, let's move on to the books, shall we?

Reading

Books read in total? 8. It was a pretty quiet month, but I'm in kind of a reading slump and nothing really sounds or looks good. Well, there are a lot of books I want to read, but I cannot really decide and oh, yeah. Don't ask. It's a long, long story. I'm happy with 8 though, I thought it'd be more like 5 or 6, so 8 is pretty darn good.

Lowest and highest ratings are 4.6 (5 stars) and DNF (which was basically a one star read if I had to rate it). Pretty polarized ratings, eh?

Book boyfriend of the month is a tie between Trevor from Pivot Point and Wolf from Scarlet. Le sigh. These guys are just so incredibly awesome and lots and lots of swoon moments by them. They made this reading month for me. I want to include Perry [Under the Never Sky series], but since he was the winner in this "category" last month, I'll say that he's the guest of honour to this party of book boyfriends ;)

Love triangles? Um, basically none. Pivot Point has a sort-of love triangle which isn't really a love triange, because the guys aren't even aware of the competition since they are in parallel futures and either of them hasn't even happened yet. Eh, yes, it's complicated if you haven't read it yet, but if you have, would you say that this is a love triangle? For me it isn't, but it's.. complicated. Maybe it's a love triangle for a reader, but not for the characters.

What I'm planning on reading this month... Not making any promises, but I will try to get to these two below. Incarnate has been on my tbr since forever and thanks to Christina [Christina Reads YA] I have a gorgeous paperback now and well.. There's this New Adult book coming out from these lovely creatures Krista and Becca Ritchie and I cannot wait to get my hands on Hothouse Flower at the end of the month. Yay!

What were your favorite books last month? Any new book boyfriends I should know about? (Or any old crushes returning to the pages you were reading?) ;) How many books did you read? What are you planning on reading this month?

Giveaway

At the end of every (other) month I'm going to try to offer you guys giveaways for the books that I have read throughout the past two months. Most of them will be offered as paperbacks, but some will be offered as ebooks. The winner will get to choose one of them and if during some months I have some extra money put aside, then there will be two winners. Open internationally. Also, please be honest, because the entries will be verified.

What will be the possible prizes for this month's giveaway? Ah, there are lots of them:

Paperbacks

Ebooks

If the winner prefers an ebook format of the selected paperback, one could choose to receive the ebook version, but I doubt it's going to happen. Just know that the option is possible.

  1. I'm going to have to go Morpheus for book boyfriend of the month. ;) But seriously, ONE? What are we supposed to be...loyal? (Pfft. I have like 5 or 20.) Throne of Glass! *fangirls endlessly* I just read that too, on the last day of Feb, actually. I LOVED it. See? There's another cool dude: Chaol. (Or Dorian? Decisions...)

    1. Bhahaha! Nope, monogamy is not a must, but wouldn't hurt :D CHAOOOOOLLLL!!!! So much love for that guy, though Dorian gives a good run for his money.

  2. Hi Siiri,

Good luck for your final semester! I've just started my final year of my BA this week, so I know them feels. My favourite book last month was 'The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender' by Leslye Walton. Such a surprise and such a beautiful book.

Also, from your above comment (heh, not a stalker I swear it!), I used to be a Dorian supporter on FictionPress, but I'm warming up to Chaol. Must admit I am overall a Sam fan.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  3. Hah, you've had a more interesting book month than me :P I'm uncertain how many books I've read in February but probably not that much either. On Goodreads, I'm actually 8 books behind! UGH! I read something and then the next day I'm back to 8 again! UGH! :))

Good luck with Incarnate... it's interesting but the romance is a bit of a snoozefest, imo :))

  4. Oh those are some quality book boyfriends Siiri! I love Trevor something fierce, and Wolf. There aren't words really. I'm just madly in love with him, even more so after his relatively brief appearance in Cress. I'm reading The Assassin's Blade right now (the 5 prequel novellas to Throne of Glass), and I have to say, I'm a big fan. I was one of the few that just didn't "get" Throne of Glass, Celaena didn't work for me until the very end, but I'm thinking I would have had an entirely different reaction to her if I'd read these novellas first as everyone told me to. But I didn't listen. I fail. Definitely looking forward to finishing these and moving on to Crown of Midnight!

  5. Honestly, I don't know how you even read 8 books while going to school so bravo for you!
All the books I want to read right now are like June or July releases and I hate reading books so early cause then I forget by the time I have to write my review. Sooooo I've been reading all the books I didn't get to read last year...or the year before and I'm loving them! Scarlet was awesome and I'm on Cress right now! Ahhhhhh! I'm planning on finishing the UTNS series this month.

Trevor and Wolf! Such good picks!

And that kind of love triangle but not really a love triangle in Pivot Point is fucking brilliant!

I read Incarnate when it came out and was in the minority because I didn't love it. There was this one weird aspect of the book I couldn't get over. Looking forward to your review to see if this was an issue with you.

    Thanks for the giveaway :)

  6. You read so many books :) I haven't read any of the novellas for the Under the never sky trilogy, but I love the trilogy itself! Cinder was good and I really need to read Cress! Great month Siiri!

  7. Oh reading slumps suck! I hope you find a really good book, which will get you out of it! Also I'm so glad to see that Trevor made it as one of your book boyfriend's of the month, he's so charming and amazing! I really need to meet this Wolf character that everyone seems to love, especially as he tied for your book boyfriend of the month! I hope you BA won't take up all of your time in March and that you still get to sneak in some good reads!

  8. 8 books is a lot in a month :D awesome job, looks like most of them had been awesome reads!
Incarnate looks really good, I cannot wait to see what you think of it!

  9. I highly approve of your book boyfriend selections for this month! :-) I think Wolf is the king of book boyfriends, but I'm glad you have Trevor too, and Perry as a guest of honor. Hope you get out of your reading slump soon, I just got over one myself and it was the worst! Can't wait to hear your thoughts on Incarnate, I really loved that one!

  10. I like how you display the covers of your reads instead of the titles! Much quicker to process than reading each individual title! I should talk to Jasprit about this! Eight books is not bad especially if you're in a reading slump. I totally understand that, you pick up one book, start to read and it doesn't do anything for you and you try again with another and another. Very discouraging. I find changing genre can help. Great wrap up, Siiri! :)

  11. I love your monthly posts! I'm dying for you to read Hothouse Flower (I love your gushy reviews!) I kind of hated Incarnate, but am probably in the minority. I can't wait to see what you think!

  12. I definitely wouldn't call the romance in Pivot Point a love triangle because they're technically two different timelines! Split Second kind of has one though. ish. maybe. lol. I don't think I added any new book boyfriends this month. OH WAIT I DID. I reread Lola and the Boy Next Door and thought Cricket was awesome despite the crappy name, so I added him to the list. I think I previously didn't add him because the name put me off too much haha

  13. TOG has a love-triangle, but I'm a firm Chaol/Celaena shipper :D I really need to get started in Under the never sky, I'm so behind on this series! And Cinder is fantastic, just wait 'til you read Scarlet & Cress!

  14. You read SO many books I loved this month; Cinder, Eleanor & Park and Darkest Minds to name a few. So much awesome!!

I'm going to have to decide for you with the favourite boy and go with Wolf because HOW CAN YOU NOT? :D

  15. I definitely didn't read much last month, I got swamped with school and such. I really don't think this month will be much of an improvement. Out of the books you read last month I've read: The Distance Between us (LOVE), Throne of Glass (also love. Chaol's my fave), Stealing Parker (ehhh) and Eleanor & Park which was okay. Out of the books you've read the one I must want to read (and possibly win? lol) would be Cinder. I've heard so many raving reviews about that book. Also I love a good fairy tale retelling. Trevor from Pivot Point is an great example of an book boyfriend, he's truly the sweetest. I recently read Split Second and loved it. Trevor was of course great in it (:

I hope March is an wonderful month for you bookwise!

  16. You've read amazing books this month girl. For the future I'm in the same team as you. I'm like trying to tackle as much work as I can so I can have some free time but it's going nowhere as everything I start requires so much and with classes it's hard. We will survive girl! WE WILL! :) About Wolf, though. He is sweet and all but my heart is still with Kai! *_* He is so amazing. Anyhow I hope you'll read more amazing books this month as well. Great post, Siiri :)

I LOVED Throne of Glass and Rome I read this month and I loved it. For Chaol is my book boyfriend of the two but it gets BETTER in Crown of Midnight ;). My book boyfriend this month has to be Jase from Be With Me or Chris from That One Summer. Thanks for the awesome Giveaway and hope you enjoy your books for this month. :)

  26. I started my first semester in February and life is a bit hectic. Good luck with your studies! Since I started uni I haven't be able to read as much :/ If I win I'll choose either Eleanor and Park or The Distance Between Us. They both sound really nice and I'm into my contemporary phase right now. Thank you for the international giveaway :)

  27. In February I also read Cinder and it was definitely one of my top reads. So was Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. I haven't read Eleanor and Park yet but I'm hoping to get the book so I can start reading it soon
