Sparrow Fisher is transforming. No longer dressed up in antiquated clothes and ideals, she is finally trying on her freedom.
Before she moves to New York City, she meets Ian Sterling, a musician Sparrow has dreamed about since she first saw him. The attraction is instant, but their relationship isn't so simple.
Over a five year span, Sparrow and Ian run into each other in unusual places. Each time, Sparrow has to decide if she can trust him, if he feels the same for her, and finally, if love is really enough.
Let’s get right down to business. If you’re a fan of Easy by Tammara Webber then this is a book you should definitely explore! It had that tortured yet romantic feel to it and the characters were really well written. Sparrow (LOL, am I the only one who cannot read her name without my mind conjuring up Mr. Johnny Depp in Jack Sparrow’s costume? Johnny Depp, you have ruined me for infinity.) comes from a very religious family. (No need to be frightened, this is where the religious theme ends.) She does everything by the book, but in her soul, she’s a free spirit waiting to unleash her wings and fly like a butterfly after maturing from a caterpillar – she wants to experience the world and discover, test herself in every way possible.
“Never hesitate to tell the truth. It's the only way it will be any good.”
Ian – Mr.
Romantic Sexy Mischief in the flesh. I enjoyed his character very much, thank
you. I thought his flirting was pretty darn adorable and I can easily see why
Sparrow couldn’t get her mind off him. We can tell from the start that Ian is
someone who can’t stay away from Sparrow, but just as she, we don’t know
whether to put our full trust in him or not. When he’s with Sparrow, everything
else fades away and you just cannot help but swoon. Then again, when he’s away,
we don’t know where he is, what he’s doing or whom he is with. Considering his reputation, trust is a big
issue for us and Sparrow. When you’re reading this
one and reach the part of Ian’s letters, then know, it was the part where I
cried like a baby lady. Believe me, it wasn’t pretty. I was okay. Not.
I found
this story to be full of so much hope, passion, love, dreams and feelings. It
drew me in from the first scene and I could not
put it down. Yes, it was devastating at times and I didn’t know until the
very end if there was going to be a HEA or just an emotional yet rational
closure. Of course I’m not going to tell you which it was, but even though I
desperately wanted a happily ever after,
I knew it wouldn’t break my heart if there wasn’t one. All I can say is that
this ending – it felt organic and real.
In the end,
it’s a story about growth and reaching for your goals no matter what. Do not ever give up. No matter how painful,
stressful or agonizing the climb to the top may be, keep pursuing your dreams. It
may not always work out and there are bound to be bumps on the road, but when
you achieve your goals, it tastes deliciously good. True Love Story makes you think
about how far does redemption go and if there’s any way to crawl out from the
deepest and darkest corners of one's existence. This is a book I want to re-read
many, many times. Remember the name Willow Aster, people, because we will hear amazing things about her in the future, I'm sure of it! She is an author not to be missed!

"(LOL, am I the only one who cannot read her name without my mind conjuring up Mr. Johnny Depp in Jack Sparrow’s costume? Johnny Depp, you have ruined me for infinity.)"
ReplyDeleteSAME SIIRI!!! I think Johnny Depp-as-Jack-Sparrow has ruined a lot of us for infinity. And dammit, I don't even care, I love him! This is the second rave review I've read for this book, and I'm thinking I definitely need to add it to my list! Except, I crave the HEA, so I'll need you to tell me exactly what happens before I pick it up! I NEED TO KNOW!
Hahaha! I know!!! It's unreal how sexy a drunken lunatic-pirate can be. I adore Depp's quirky roles so much that yeah.. LOL. I won't start a Johnny Depp discussion here so I'll better stop right now. I ABSOLUTELY ADORED THIS BOOK AND YOU NEED TO READ IT ASAP JENNY!!! I'll send you an e-mail of this one as soon as I'm done with my biochemistry lab protocol stuff =)
DeleteOh wow this one sounds like it really resonated with you. I was a huge fan of Easy so I definitely perked up at the recommendation to fans of that book. It sounds like the love interest was really great. I'm happy to have read this review because i have to be honest that cover looks like a mess of post-mortem limbs. Why is everything so gray? Kind of creepy if you ask me. Fabulous review Siiri! This one will be finding its way onto my TBR!
ReplyDeleteI sure hope my recommendation pays off and you'll adore this one as much as I did. I don't know about the cover though.. I'm not so against it as some people are, I actually think it's artistic just as Sparrow and Ian were, but hey, it could definitely use some more color. The limbs on the cover make my head spin, lol. I'm not sure where they're all coming from :-D Anyway, I hope you'll like it, Jenni:-)
DeleteMy best friend read this & loved it. I'm thinking I must buy it ASAP. I love love love your review ! So gorgeous and you made such a compelling case for the book!
ReplyDelete♥ Thanks, babe! :')
DeleteWell I really liked EASY so I'm definitely taking note of this book. I'll admit that the talk of a '5 year span' makes me nervous, but it is also more realistic of a relationship. The way you describe this book makes it sound amazing though! Thanks for putting it on my radar, as I had never heard of it before.
ReplyDeleteTrust me, I was nervous, too. I know it's realistic and organic, but it kind of freaked me out too, you know. It's just SO long. However, it suited this story perfectly and I couldn't be happier that I read it. I hope you'll pick it up one day:-)
DeleteOk, so I stopped reading this post after "If you’re a fan of Easy by Tammara Webber then this is a book you should definitely explore!" to go and get this book on my Kindle lol.
ReplyDeleteOoooo! Ok ok ok, I've got it in my Kindle now and just finished reading your review. It made me chuckle and I'm actually pretty excited to read this one now. I'm rereading Kiss the Sky, but I may have to put it aside for a moment and dig into this one :D
